Water Calendar

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 10, 2026

Water Calendar helps groups coordinate a shared water schedule and communicate. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

Information we collect

We collect only what the app needs to work. We do not collect email addresses.

  • Account information: your chosen username, first name, and last name. Your password is stored only as a secure salted hash — we never store or see the plain password.
  • Group information: the group you create or join, its 6-digit pairing code, and your membership.
  • Schedule information: the water slots you add (start/end times, duration) and related schedule-change requests and approvals.
  • Messages: the content of group-channel messages and direct messages you send, and any messages you report to a group admin.
  • Preferences: your chosen calendar color and notification settings.
  • Moderation data: users you block, and mute/report/removal records used by group admins.
  • Push tokens: a device push-notification token (from Apple/Google via Expo) so we can deliver notifications you enable.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or payment information.

How we use information

  • To provide the core features: accounts, groups, the shared calendar, schedule requests, and messaging.
  • To deliver push notifications you have enabled (new messages, schedule-change requests, and water-slot reminders).
  • To support safety and moderation (reporting, muting, blocking, and admin tools).
  • To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

How information is shared

  • With your group: your name and schedule entries are visible to members of your group. Group-channel messages are visible to group members; direct messages are visible only to you and the recipient.
  • Reports: if you report a message, it is shared with your group's admin for moderation.
  • Service providers: push notifications are delivered through Expo and the Apple Push Notification service / Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (via a Cloudflare Tunnel to our server).
  • Legal: we may disclose information if required by law.

Data retention and deletion

  • You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete account). This permanently removes your account and associated data (messages, schedule entries, tokens, preferences, and moderation records tied to you). If you are a group admin with other members, you'll be asked to transfer admin first.
  • A group's built-in system administrator can also delete an account on request for account recovery/cleanup.

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS via Cloudflare). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Children

Water Calendar is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your choices

  • Change your name, color, password, and notification preferences in the app.
  • Block other users and report messages.
  • Delete your account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; the “Effective date” above will change. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
